Cleanup efforts in Muskegon have uncovered more than 3200 beverage containers, around 1500 pounds of lumber, 17 pairs of sunglasses and a folding bed. According to the Associated Press, volunteers in the Fifth Annual Muskegon River Cleanup also removed 400 pounds of scrap metal, 74 shoes, four inflatable rafts and two cellphones from the waterway. Around 300 people gathered on Saturday to help remove trash from the river.
