For the second straight year, the Marshall Redhawks and the Pennfield Panthers would determine who would win the District Final in what is now Division 2.

These two Interstate 8 rivals continue to amaze on the hardwood and it was the same excitement for their third meeting of the season. They split the regular season meetings, including Pennfield's win just three weeks ago on their home floor. Friday's Final at Pennfield would be the rubber match.

The Redhawks would earn the only road win in the season series with the most at stake, earning their second straight District title in a 44-39 victory in our Game of the Night.

Senior forward Jeremy Luciani would score half of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Redhawks back to Regionals. Sophomore Ezra McAllister added 11 points, all in the second half and with eight points in the final period.

The Panthers just couldn't keep up after letting the 13-12 halftime lead slip away. Senior guard Keagan Burns scored 19 points in the loss for Pennfield, including four three-pointers. Sophomore guard Ryne Petersen scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth to keep the Green and Gold close. The Panthers end their season at 14-8.

Marshall moves on to Regionals beginning Tuesday. Instead of a long road trip east of Lansing, the Redhawks host the Regional this season and will see Haslett in the Semifinal. The Vikings upset a one-loss Williamston squad 36-33 in their District Final.
