An alleged break-in and assault in Battle Creek has police looking for their suspect.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that a 24-year-old man allegedly went to the apartment of his former girlfriend and attempted to force entry Wednesday morning. The incident happened at the Arbors of Battle Creek around 2:45am Wednesday.

The 26-year-old woman told police that the man knocked down the door and attacked her new boyfriend with a tire iron, and said he had a gun. She says the suspect then choked her, while the male victim ran to get police.

The suspect also allegedly smashed the windows of the new boyfriend’s pickup. By the time the Battle Creek Police got there, the suspect was gone.
