The Tigers held in there at the start, Sunday afternoon, but the 4th and 5th inning put Anibal Sanchez away, and the Toronto Blue Jays held on for the 8-2 win. Sanchez gave up seven runs on twelve hits and the Blue Jays out hit the Tigers, 16-7.

The Tigers trailed 1-0, going into the 4th. Following a 1-2-3, 3rd inning, it looked like Sanchez might be dialing it in. However, he would give up a home run to center, and the Blue Jays tacked on two more. Tiger batters answered those runs with two of their own, in the Top of the 5th. Ian Kinsler hit home run number seventeen on the season, scoring Machado and pulling the Tigers to within one.

It was the bottom of the 5th, however, when Toronto would really get to Sanchez and blow this game wide open. The Blue Jays sent nine men to the plate and would score four, on three singles and a home run. Tiger reliever, Jeff Ferrell came on for Sanchez, to record the final out. The Tigers trailed 7-2. The Blue Jays would add another run in the 7th, on two singles and a passed ball, and that’s where the scoring would end.

With the loss, the Blue Jays take the series. The Tigers head to Cleveland on Monday, for a three game series against the division leader. Four home games with the White Sox will follow. Our Monday night matchup will feature Matt Boyd(5-9  5.93 ERA) against Carlos Carrasco(14-6  3.53 ERA). Our coverage begins at 6:45, on 95.3 WBCK.
