Big Ten Basketball

Nebraska upset number-nine Michigan State 60-51 in East Lansing.  Adreian Payne added 11 points and nine boards in the loss. Gary Harris totaled 18 points and seven rebounds for the Spartans, who slipped to 21-and-5 and 10-and-3 in the conference.

The Spartans play at Purdue Thursday.

Michigan lost to Wisconsin 75-62 in Ann Arbor.  The Wolverines came out slow, and were after trailing 34-19 at the half. Caris LeVert scored 25 points with six rebounds for the Wolverines. Nik Stauskas chipped in with 11 points in the loss. Michigan dropped to 18-and-7 and 10-and-3 in the conference. The Wolverines are off until Sunday's meeting with Michigan State.

NBA All Star Game

Carmelo Anthony hit a record eight three-pointers and 30 points to help the East defeat the West 163-155 in New Orleans at the 63rd All-Star Game.    Game MVP Kyrie Irving tallied 31 points.

Pistons

The Detroit Pistons take on the Charlotte Bobcats tomorrow night at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Olympics

Team USA is into the men's ice hockey quarterfinals after defeating Slovenia 5-1 in the preliminary round. Phil Kessel notched a hat trick to help the U.S. win Group A. David Backes and Ryan McDonagh also scored for the Americans. Former Spartan Ryan Miller made 17 saves in net for the first time after Jonathan Quick picked up the first two U.S. wins.

Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White hold the lead heading into today's free dance portion of the ice dancing competition. The pair hopes to knock off defending gold medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada, who sit second. Action starts at 10:00 a.m. Eastern.

The Netherlands is atop the medals count with 17 entering today's action. Russia and the United States are tied for second with 16 each. Norway and Canada each have 14 medals, while Germany owns 12 and the most gold with seven.

Bob Costas will return to NBC's primetime Olympics coverage today after a six-day absence due to an eye infection.

Bode Miller won a bronze medal in the super-G yesterday.

Golf

Bubba Watson is back in the winner's circle for the first time since capturing the 2012 Masters.  Watson fired a seven-under 64 on Sunday to win the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club.

One of golf's most famous landmarks is no more. The famed Eisenhower Tree, which guarded the 17th hole at Augusta National Golf Club, has been removed after major damage from a recent ice storm. Ike’s tree was named after the former President and Augusta member because Eisenhower often hit into it.  During a club meeting in 1956, he proposed cutting it down, but was overruled by Masters co-founder Clifford Roberts.
