Tuesday proved to be a rough day for a 45-year-old Battle Creek woman.

According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, early in the morning, the woman was traveling down the 300 block of Capital Avenue Southwest, when she nearly hit a Battle Creek City Police patrol car.

She claimed to be taking medication for a medical condition and had consumed some wine, but refused to take a breath test because she was studying to be an attorney and said..quote..”that is what they taught us in lawyer school.”

She was later released from the Calhoun County Jail and at 10:20 Tuesday morning, police were called to North LaVista Boulevard and West Burnham,  and the woman was found sleeping at the wheel of the same vehicle blocking traffic.

Police found an empty pint of liquor and a crack pipe in the vehicle. She was then taken, kicking and screaming, and returned to the County Jail.
