Last year, 2016, is being reported as the deadliest year for Michigan drivers, since 2007. According to the Detroit Free Press, a running total of people killed last year shows 1,021 people were killed in 301,525 crashes. The numbers are not yet final. Ann Readett with the Michigan Office of Highway Safety planning says those numbers could go up or down, depending on confirmed causes of death.
