U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes ruled Monday to refuse to block the city of Detroit from shutting off water to delinquent customers for 6 months. He ruled that there is no right to free water.

"There is no such right or law," Rhodes ruled.

Judge Rhodes rightfully said Detroit residents do not have a right to receive water service "let alone service based on an ability to pay."

To date there has been approximately 24,000 residents water accounts shut off this year.

Why people thought that their water and service should be paid for by someone else is beyond me.  Another consequence of the Nanny state we are becoming.
