Battle Creek Central Student Declared Brain-Dead
A Battle Creek Central High School student, involved in a car crash on Monday, has been declared brain-dead.
17-year-old Bladimir Patino, a Central senior and star soccer player, had been driving towards Eagle Lake near Augusta with a friend, 17-year-old Ricardo Segovia-Gonzalez, around 6pm Monday. Authorities say that the teen’s car failed to stop at a stop sign, and collided with a pickup truck.
Patino was initially listed in critical condition, while Segovia-Gonzalez was listed in good condition Wednesday.
The pickup driver was not injured.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Patino’s family, and Battle Creek district officials are discussing the possibility of a memorial soccer game to honor the memory of one of their standout players.
