I just read an interesting article in the Detroit News, one in which Southfield Michigan Congresswomen Brenda Lawrence and her fellow colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) met with President Trump yesterday and had an interesting message for him.

What was the message?

Well they told President Trump he should follow their lead if he is serious about what he said during the campaign concerning addressing the issues afflicting the “black” community today.

The first thing I thought was, what has the CBC been doing for the last few decades, why have they not implemented any of the policies they thought would help the “black” communities.

The second thought I had was, why did they not ask the first “black” President, former President Obama to follow their lead and improve the lives of people in the “black” community.  In fact the lives of people in “black” communities worsened under the first “black” President.

I am only using the word “black” because it seems that the CBC likes to use that word to separate themselves from the rest of us who are not “black”.

Apparently they delivered a 130 page policy document on “African” American history and solutions for their plight they recommend he implement.  Again did they deliver this document to former President Obama and why did he not implement them?

This document that they either did not deliver to former President Obama or he ignored them, spoke about the need for summer job programs for youth, as well as investing in transportation, education and job creation.

The article quoted the White House that President Trump:

Voiced his desire to work with the CBC to improve educational and economic opportunities, enhance public safety, reduce the cost of prescription drugs, and invest in infrastructure.  Throughout my campaign, I pledged to focus on improving conditions for African-American citizens.  Every American child has a right to grow up in a safe community, to attend great schools, to graduate with access to high-paying jobs. America has spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas. I heard just recently in the Middle East, as of two months ago — $6 trillion. You know where we are over there, while neglecting the fate of children in Baltimore and Chicago and Detroit.

The Detroit News article pointed out the fact that the CBC met with President Trump even though they received pressure from their constituents not to meet with him.  Really your constituents do not want you to meet with the President to discuss improving their communities.

That sounds really smart, does it not!
