Concealed Carry Protects Men
Two Battle Creek men have been arraigned on armed robbery charges, after attempting to rob two men responding to a Craigslist advertisement for a used car.
According to MLive, Jon Vanderwiel and his father, Robert, drove to Urbandale to purchase a vehicle which was listed on Craigslist. Upon arrival, they were assaulted by three men, who attempted to take their cash. Jon Vanderweil, a licensed concealed weapon carrier, withdrew his weapon and warned the attackers, who continued to assault them. Vanderwiel then fired at the suspects, striking two of the men in the chest.
All three men fled, with the two wounded men being quickly apprehended by the police.
Torry Pesche, 19 and Christian Logan, 23, are still recovering from their wounds. The third man is lodged in the Calhoun County Jail on other charges.
