From Manager to Player: U of M Cinderella Story
Who doesn’t love a Cinderella story, I do. I love a great story that tells us that sometimes perseverance works.
What is the definition of perseverance, well according to Webster dictionary it is:
Continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition
Well the University of Michigan Basketball team just handed us a great Cinderella story, and his name is C.J. Baird.
I have told my children for years to never stop dreaming, never think that you cannot do something or achieve something. Sometimes a lot of hard work and perseverance does pay off.
Last October, C.J was a freshman manager for the Michigan basketball team, he tried out for the team but did not make it. Well yesterday’s game against Texas A & M gave him the opportunity to show that a lot of hard work and perseverance does pay off. The coach did not only have him dress in a Michigan uniform, but since Michigan was beating Texas A & M so handily Coach Beilein actually sent him onto the court with 30 seconds left on the clock to get his chance to play for U or M.
C.J. did not only go onto the court but got the ball, dribbled three times, including a right-to-left crossover move before pulling up from several feet beyond the 3-point line and taking shot.
What happened, well check it out in this courtesy of SBnation:
