Hot Night, Cold Feet for Kalamazoo FC
After earning their first win on the season Wednesday, Kalamazoo FC had an opportunity to show off their recent offensive prowess on the pitch Sunday at home with Detroit City FC.
The extremely hot temperatures couldn't keep the goals coming for the Teals, managing only one shot on net in a 1-0 loss to DCFC at Mayors Riverfront Park.
The lone goal came in the 18th minute, when Shawn Lawson scored his third goal of the year for Le Rogue. Tyrone Mondi got the assist, stealing a pass from KzFC's Quamie Dinnall and connecting with Lawson on a deflected pass.
The Teals were unable to put any offensive threat on until the final 10 minutes. Through the whole match, KzFC had four total shots and two corner kicks. They played a pretty clean game, penalized for four fouls.
Kalamazoo FC now sits in a last place tie in the National Premier Soccer League's Great Lakes Conference with FC Indiana. DCFC stays in third, moving closer to second place Lansing United.
This week the Teals have two more matches, with one taking place at home. KzFC will be off to the east side of Michigan to take on the Michigan Stars FC in Berkley Friday night. It will be a pivotal match for Kalamazoo, as they can pull ahead of the Stars in the standings with a win.
Sunday will see the return of the Teals at home as they host Lansing United. The Hoops are coming off a 4-2 win on the road against Grand Rapids FC Saturday. Tickets are available for the contest at 5:30pm!
