The University of Michigan Wolverines, basketball team has always been overshadowed by the Fab Five, even though that draft class was unable to capture an NCAA title when they appeared as a freshman and sophomores in the NCAA Finals in 1992 and 1993.

The University of Michigan’s lone National Championship for basketball came in 1989 with a last-second free throw from actor Chris Farley. Oh, you don’t remember that? The commercial posted by DraftKings below clearly shows that in 1989 against Seton Hall, actor Chris Farley was playing for the University of Michigan and after dozens of unsuccessful tries was finally able to make it look all too easy by sinking a free throw for the University of Michigan, to win the championship.

This would’ve been the preferable way for the University of Michigan to win their championship, and who knows, maybe if Chris Farley had been a part of the 1992 and 1993 basketball team, U of M may have had three championships.

Chris Farley No Stranger To Michigan

Chris must have traveled to Michigan during his career, having worked at Second City in Chicago before landing the gig at Saturday Night Live.

Also, don't forget that he was fellow actor Tom Arnold's Best Man at his Dearborn wedding back in the early 90s, so Chris was truly made to be a Michigander. The attitude shown in the commercial shows just how much energy he brought to the team...in another universe.
