I am fortunate enough to say that at no point in my life have I ever been affected by bedbugs. But it is quite clear that it is a major problem, especially in Michigan as recently, four major cities landed on the top 50 cities that have the most bedbugs, from a survey that was recently conducted by Orkin.

Considering that is kind of their specialty, I would say they are a pretty reliable source. Luckily for Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, we did not make the top 50 list however Lansing, Flint, Grand Rapids, and Detroit all landed within this list which was released earlier this year

How To Tell if You Have Bed Bug Bites

According to one site, there is a clear indicator that the bite you have may be different than a normal bug bite:

Bed bug bites will turn into small, sometimes itchy, red welts on your skin. Now, many insects can bite you during the night, but one common indicator that a bed bug has bitten you is if there are a series of three or four welts in a row. Different people will also react differently to bed bug bites.

Where Does Michigan Stand?

Below we break down which cities made the Top 50, and how Michigan is doing overall.

Unfortunately for Michigan, 4 of our biggest cities in the state also happen to be the worst for bed bug issues. Lansing, MI jumped from 48th place to 42nd place. Flint jumped up from 23rd place to 21st. Grand Rapids is making some improvement, but not much as they dropped one spot from 11th to 12th. Detroit sadly went from 8th to 6th. Yuck.
