96 Year Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat Tour Could Come To An End

Toonerville Trolley and Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat Tours are hoping to enter its 97th season, however, it could soon set sail towards retirement. The owners of the boat are looking for new owners in the hopes of retiring and aren't having much luck.

Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat Tours is heading into its 96th season and 42nd season with the Stewart family at the helm. The Stewarts will be heading into well-deserved retirement, but have no one to take over day-to-day operations. Are you interested in owning and operating one of the most iconic businesses in the Upper Peninsula?

Currently, the 6 1/2 hour wilderness tour starts with a 35-minute narrow gauge train ride, followed by a 2-hour, narrated riverboat cruise. After reaching the rapids above the falls, the riverboat docks for one hour and fifteen minutes, allowing for a 5/8 mile nature hike to their private view of the upper Tahquamenon Falls.

The boat even has its own grille on board that serves hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, ham & cheese, chicken sandwiches, sloppy joes, nachos, vegetarian burgers, and grilled cheese.

This is a true gem of the Upper Peninsula and if it goes under without new owners, the state would really be losing a large part of that old-world charm the U.P. is known for.
