Kalamazoo Teen Who Ran Away Found Safe In Missouri

Authorities in Kalamazoo say that an at-risk teenager who ran away just a day after getting out of the hospital has now been found in Missouri.

16-year-old Michael Thornton was discovered Thursday morning in central Missouri, near a white van from Oshtemo Township that he might have stolen.  He was chased by Missouri police in the van Wednesday night, but they eventually called the chase off.

Thornton is now being held by Missouri authorities and will be picked up by his parents.

Thornton ran away Tuesday evening, when he jumped from a moving car at the intersection of West Main and Drake in Kalamazoo, just a day after getting out of the hospital for a suicide attempt.
