Pedestrians in Detroit may soon be enjoying their “right of way.” From the Associated Press, plans are in the works to temporarily turn two major Detroit roadways into car-free zones this fall. Instead, the “Open Streets Detroit” event will allow for walking, running, biking, shopping and play along Michigan Avenue and West Vernor Highway. The event is planned for noon thru 5 PM on September 25th and October 2nd. The route begins at Campus Maritius Park in downtown, connects through Roosevelt Park and continues through southwest Detroit.
