The 10th ranked Michigan Wolverines beat Purdue 75-66. Nick Stauskis led the Wolverines with 16. Caris LaVert had 14 and 11 rebounds. Derrek Walton, Jr. h d 14 points for Michigan. Pistons
The Pistons host the Philadelphia 76ers at The Palace.
Red Wings
The Red Wings host Washington tonight. Goalie Jimmy Howard will be back between the pipes after missing four games with a sprained knee. Henrik Zetterberg should be back in the lineup, but Pavel Datsyuk, is still out. Wings’ forward Johan Franzen has been placed back on injured reserve after concussion-like symptoms returned. Franzen withdrew from the Swedish Olympic team yesterday.
NASCAR Changes
The field of drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase is expanding from 12 to 16 and will include elimination rounds to determine the champion. The number of drivers will decrease every three Chase races and will eventually be down to just four when the series concludes its season November 16th at Homestead. The highest finishing driver among the final four at Homestead will win the Sprint Cup championship.
Lance Parish to Manage
Former Tigers catcher Lance Parrish is returning to the organization and is expected to be named the manager of the Double A Erie Sea Wolves. He’s managed other minor league teams, including the Great Lakes Loons in Midland in their first season in 2007, after they left Battle Creek.
