School Closings

House GOP members plan to block the Governor from being able to decide issues relating to classroom teaching in state schools, and school sports schedules under the umbrella of virus protection.

In essence, the lawsuit is claiming the schools have First Amendment Rights protection against the Governor’s shutdown orders.

Some schools have already missed over two weeks of class time.

School closings quickly become a lengthy list on the worst winter days (or weeks) in Michigan. For those of us in broadcasting, it also becomes quite stressful when it is thrown into the mix of regular daily responsibilities.

The final week of January 2019 in Michigan was one for the record books when it comes to the weather events we endured.

Whether it's an epidemic or not isn't the point. The spread of flu over the area is shutting schools down and the Kalamazoo Public Schools is the largest system so far.

It looks like a long weekend for Climax-Scotts school students. The administration decided to close all schools and daycare, on Friday, because of illnesses. This closing also includes all weekend school activities.
