Friday evening marked the first game since the all-star break for Detroit, and it wasn’t a pleasant return when the Tigers lost to the Blue Jays 7-2.

It was a slow starting game and It wasn’t until the 5th inning that a mark was placed upon the scoreboard, and unfortunately the run wasn’t made by the Tigers. The Blue Jays managed to score two runs off from Justin Verlander. Jose Iglesias scored for the Tigers when Alex Avila lined out to third, making it a 2-1 game.

The Blue Jays continued to inch the score up, crossing the plate in the 6th and the 7th, raising the score to 4-1.

Toronto continued to cross the plate, the Blue Jays scoring three runs off from Blaine Hardy in the 8th, pushing the board to 7-1.

Andrew Romine homered in the bottom of the 9th, nudging the score to 7-2.

The two teams face each other, once again, Saturday evening in game two of the three game series. Coverage begins at 5:45 PM on 95.3 WBCK.
