The end of the season is looming for the Detroit Tigers, but they tried hard to avoid being swept again at Comerica Park.

Trailing 3-0 in the final inning, the Tigers scored two runs on a Andrew Romine single. It just wasn't enough, as the Motown Cats fell 3-2 to the Oakland Athletics in the final mid-week day game of 2017.

The loss completes the A's sweep of the Tigers in their three-game series. It's the eighth time Detroit has been swept this season and the fourth time at home. In six games against Oakland, the Tigers managed just one win.

Eight of nine Tigers starters had at least a hit, with Jeimer Candelario having two on the afternoon.

On the mound, Anibal Sanchez suffered the tough luck loss, allowing just a run on three hits and fanning eight to fall to 3-5 on the season.

The final series in Detroit this season begins Thursday, as the Minnesota Twins come to town for a four-game weekend series. Catch the series opener at 6:45pm on 95.3 WBCK!
