This morning, a large fire broke out at the former Coldwater Recreation Lanes in Coldwater, MI. Coldwater firefighters were sent to the site that sits at 559 East Chicago Street just after 5:00 a.m. A post shared in the Facebook page "Our Coldwater" shows the building engulfed in flames stating that a witness said the fire passed through the roof of the former bowling alley. Apparently traffic between Michigan Avenue and Willowbrook Road on U.S. 12 was shut down.

Aerial trucks were also requested from the Bronson and Quincy fire departments. Coldwater Recreation Lanes was in the process of being demolished after shutting down previously this year to make way for a new Dairy Queen Store to be built on site. No damage was reported at the nearby Family Video and Cottage Inn Pizza. This is an unfortunate end to a place that held so many special memories to the people of Coldwater.
