What IS A Street Rod, Anyway?!

For the 31st year, the Street Rod Nationals North show brings as many as 2500 street rods to the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds and Expo Center September 8 - 10, 2017.

But, what is a street rod?!

Jim Rowlett, marketing director for the event, cites the official definition from the National Street Rod Association as "a modernized vintage vehicle that must be of pre-1949 manufacture". The vehicles are equipped with the latest options, like cruise control and air conditioning, among other amenities.

Rowlett also said most street rod owners have updated the engine and the drive train in their vehicles, in order to create modern street cruisers with a vintage shell.
