WMU Announces 2016 Football Schedule Including Big Ten Opponents Northwestern and Illinois
Coming off an 8-5 season capped by a bowl victory, Western Michigan University announced dates and time for the 2016 football season, which features two games against Big Ten teams.
The Broncos will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 3rd at Noon against Northwestern. Northwestern finished 2nd in the Big Ten West last season with a 10-3 record. (The game will be on ESPNU)
The home opener (Comm-University Night) is the following Saturday against North Carolina Central.
Then the Broncos travel to Champaign to play Illinois. This game was setting up to be a match up of former WMU coach Bill Cubit against his successor, P.J. Fleck, but Cubit was replaced earlier this season by former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith.
