A little girl in Battle Creek is in police custody, after she allegedly tried to stab her mother because she was grounded.

Battle Creek Police officers responded to a home in the 500 block of Capital Avenue SW Tuesday, around 6:30pm.  A 30-year-old woman says that she was napping in her home when she awoke to find her 11-year-old daughter standing over her holding a large knife.  After a brief struggle in which no one was injured the woman left with her other child and called police.

Investigation shows that the daughter was upset, because she was grounded for smoking a cigarette.  The girl did admit to police she wanted to kill her mother.

The girl is being held at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home, and could be facing assault charges.
