A domestic assault investigation led to the arrest of a Battle Creek man on multiple charges early Tuesday.

Around 3am, Officers responded to the area of Wren and Maple Grove St, after a woman called and said she had been assaulted by her on-and-off boyfriend while they were drinking.  She also said he had pointed a gun at her.

The woman was treated at the scene for facial injuries.

Officers attempted to contact the suspect at his apartment, and he opened the door with a gun before slamming it shut and retreating inside the residence.  A short standoff ensued, before the 41-year-old male was arrested on charges of felonious domestic assault.

Felony weapons charges were also added after a search warrant found a handgun inside the apartment.
