A new section of Battle Creek is being issued a boil water advisory, while crews work on the water system.

While the water pressure is lowered in the area, the potential for bacteria to enter occurs.

In a release, the City of Battle Creek says that before using water for cooking, washing dishes, and brushing teeth, water should be brought to a boil for at least one minute to ensure safety.

The affected areas include:

-Bechman Ave. between Eldred St. and Summer St.
-Winter St. between Fairhome Ave. and LaVista Blvd.
- Bidwell St. between Bechman Ave. and Fairhome Ave.

The advisory is in effect for at least the next 24 hours.
