An annual study from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute was released Wednesday, announcing the healthiest counties in Michigan. While many counties in West Michigan rank in the top 20, including Ottawa County at number one, Calhoun County is ranked fourth worst out of the 82 counties surveyed. While violent crimes have lowered over the past year, increases in adult obesity and physical inactivity hurt the overall score. Unemployment and children in poverty were also increased factors.
