A man is in jail after a severe reckless driving crash in Battle Creek Thursday night.

Around 11pm Thursday, Battle Creek Police Officers saw a driver in a black Chrysler, speeding and running stop signs in the Washington Heights area.

Police were unable to catch the driver, but the vehicle did crash in the area of Oneita St. and Parkway Ave.  Authorities say the crash was so severe, the car hit two trees 40 feet apart and struck a porch; the engine of the vehicle was launched from the wreckage and landed several feet away.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was caught by police, and arrested on charges of driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash and resisting arrest. He was also found to be on felony probation.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
