Suspect Hospitalized Following Battle Creek Shooting

A man is under Police guard at the hospital after authorities say he tried to kill his estranged wife and ended up being shot himself.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire at an apartment complex on Stringham Road in Battle Creek at around 9 last night.

The victim said her husband tried to shoot her and then ran away.

Investigators say they found evidence of more than one gun being fired and tracked the suspect to Oaklawn Avenue where he was found with a gunshot wound to the chest; he is currently in stable condition.

Police are still searching for the third person involved.
