The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Homer for an equipment violation.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says that their officers were called to the intersection of Angola Rd. and Central Rd. in Branch County's Ovid Township around 5:06pm Thursday.

Battle Creek police say the 41-year-old was found sleeping inside a car at a parking lot of a business in the 500 block of East Emmett Street

Battle Creek police say during a traffic stop, they found a 16-year-old driver with a handgun, as well as a small amount of marijuana.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies were searching the area of Michigan Ave. near Bedford Rd. in Bedford Township around 8:16pm Friday, for a suspect who was believed to have stolen electronics from a store in Marshall.

Authorities say that the ring was in charge of a scheme to distribute and sell meth in west Michigan, and nearly 17 pounds of meth and five firearms have been seized as a result.

While the OD victim was being treated with Narcan, the victim's 67-year-old father came out of the home brandishing a handgun. EMTs took cover, and deputies were eventually able to take the man into custody.

37-year-old Jerrell Finch was in Calhoun County Court on Monday to get his sentence, after he was found guilty earlier this year of second-degree murder and delivery of a controlled substance.

The incident began Saturday afternoon, where they were notified that Jackson County authorities were chasing a stolen vehicle on westbound I-94 around 2:30pm. Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the area of I-94 near the 121st mile marker in Marengo Township, but shortly afterwards a Calhoun County Marine Patrol Deputy spotted two individuals walking along Partello Rd. near 21 Mile.
