As the Western Michigan Broncos prep for the 2018 season that gets underway August 31st, the Mid-American Conference held their annual conference Media Day festivities in Detroit May 24th.

The preseason MAC poll, that is voted on by media members for the 12 conference schools, voted Western to finish third in the West Division. Out of all the votes, the Broncos received one first place vote on their way to 87 points. The media selected Northern Illinois as the top team in the West, followed by Toledo. The Broncos finished ahead of Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Ball State.

The poll also shows Ohio as the top team in the East, with the Bobcats also being selected as preseason MAC championship game winner.

The Broncos will open their 2018 season on Friday, August 31st, when they host the Syracuse Orange at Waldo Stadium. Kick-off at Waldo Stadium is at 6pm and single game tickets are now available.

Western's head coach Tim Lester enters his second season on the sidelines and will see a former employer to start the season. Lester spent three seasons at Syracuse, first as quarterback coach in 2013 and adding the offensive coordinator role in 2014 and 2015.

It will also be a homecoming of sorts for Orange head coach Dino Babers, who enters his third year with the Cuse. He spent two seasons as the head coach at Bowling Green before moving on to coach the Orange.

This year's schedule is jam-packed with excitement, including games against Michigan at the Big House September 8th, a trip to Atlanta to battle Georgia State at the former Turner Field September 22nd, and three prime time games in November against Toledo, Ohio and Northern Illinois at Waldo.
