A new study polled Michigan residents asking what was most important to them. The number one answer will come as no surprise.

Fixistate.org says that there are more than 120,256 miles of paved roads in Michigan and most are in desperate need of repair.

Repairing Michigan’s infrastructure is at the forefront of voters’ minds heading into the November election, according to a statewide survey of 600 residents by Lansing-based polling firm EPIC-MRA.

A quarter of respondents chose fixing Michigan’s roads, bridges and dams, drinking water sources and wastewater treatment systems as the issue they were concerned about most. It was followed by improving the quality of education, which 16 percent of respondents picked as their top priority. Coming in third was controlling for crime and drugs.

In December 2016, Gov. Rick Snyder's 21st Century Infrastructure Commission released a report showing Michigan must invest an additional $4 billion annually for infrastructure to eliminate a funding gap that exceeds $60 billion over the next 20 years.

The poll found that improving the state's infrastructure was the top concern among men and women, Democrats and Independents, and all age groups except seniors.

What do you think is the most important improvement you think Michigan needs?
