Group Launches Local “Needs” For Battle Creek Students
Communities In Schools of Michigan – part of the nation’s largest organization dedicated to empowering students to stay in school and on a path to a brighter future – is in need of donations to help stock basic needs closets across Battle Creek Public School sites.
Communities In Schools of Michigan in Battle Creek has launched this basic needs drive to provide youth within our local community with resources such as personal care products, socks, underwear, gloves, uniform shirts, and snacks. Our goal is to overcome basic barriers within the environment so that students can focus on learning.
Since September, CISM Site Coordinators embedded in 11 school sites have given out nearly 300 basic needs items to students. Through this drive, we have partnered with over 45 community organizations, churches, and businesses to get resources into the hands of Battle Creek students. Special thanks goes to Two Men and a Truck and CitiLink for donating boxes for this drive.
If you are interested in donating, please contact Aisha Walters, Regional Director, at aisha@cismichigan.org. The drive ends November 8th, 2019.
Communities In Schools of Michigan in Battle Creek is one of seven embedded affiliates of CIS of Michigan working in 38 schools across the state to empower students to stay in school so they may achieve in life.
