As the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region has re-focused its annual campaign in recent years, with specific focuses on various community challenges.

One of them is the issue of income stability.

United Way feels removing barriers and creating opportunities for those who do not have stable incomes. In fact, United Way has set a goal to help 8,500 homes become financially stable by 2025.

A key component, United Way says, is workforce development - something BCVision is working on. As well, United Way is partnering with Michigan Works in an attempt to address barriers to employment.
