Michigan now has its own auction site where you can bid on everything from robot vacuum cleaners to car parts.

It's Not Exactly Michigan eBay

The new site, introduced on Friday (10/13) by the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, features surplus merchandise and items that have been confiscated by various Michigan agencies.

The new site is Michigan.gov/MiBid.

The MiBid auction site is open to everyone. You can view auction items online but this site differs from eBay insofar as you cannot place items up for sale or for auction.

In order to bid on items, you will need to create a free MiLogin profile. According to WLNS-TV, you may already have a valid profile if you've created one for accessing other state services.

Saving the State Money

The Department of Technology, Management, and Budget created the auction site, and by utilizing an in-state team to create the platform, Michigan is expected to save approximately $250,000 per year over outsourcing the creation of the site. The site is also said to utilize the highest security standards available, according to a news release from the DTMB.

Various Items Up for Bid

The Department of Technology, Management, and Budget works with state agencies to sell surplus property that has been used by various state agencies. Also up for bids is property that has been confiscated by the following state agencies:

  • The Department of Natural Ressources
  • Michigan State Police
  • Federal Transportation Security Administration

Auction items include office furniture, vehicles, specialized equipment, and electronic equipment.

Inside the $5.9M Cedar-Clad 'Boardwalk Cottage' on Mackinac Island

This is everything you thought it would be - and more. If you have strolled the whimsical streets of Mackinac Island not far from downtown, you have surely seen the "Boardwalk Cottage". The unique cedar-clad home is a standout for its design and beauty, and it's no wonder considering who owns the home. The home was built in the 1980s by the McIntire family, the previous owners of The Hotel Iroquois on the island for over 65 years. Much like the hotel that they brought to a legendary stage, the 4200 square foot home is considered one the island's finest.

Inside the home, you will find three bedrooms, each with its own sitting area, walk-in closet, and private bath, each overlooking the Straits of Mackinac. The first-floor master suite will have you waking up with spectacular views of Lake Huron. The outside offers amazing space for entertaining and just taking in all the beauty the home is surrounded by.

Take a look inside.
