There were no injuries, but moderate damage was done to an apartment at the Arbors of Battle Creek on Tuesday morning.   The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to about 8:30am after several residents smelled smoke, but no alarms were going off.

Firemen arrived on scene to find a working fire in apartment 36 B. They took a hose line to the third floor apartment and started fire control and a primary search of the apartment. Firemen evacuated the 80 B apartment building and extinguished the fire quickly before it could spread into the attic or other apartments. A cat was rescued from the apartment. In all, the department responded with 18 firefighters, 2 battalion chiefs, and a training officer. Fire Marshal Jones was called on scene to investigate.
