The 2019 National Football League season begins later this year, but it is customary in early April for the league to announce the preseason schedules for their 32 teams.

The Detroit Lions official announcement came Tuesday with their almost typical foes for the preseason. The Lions will open their preseason schedule with the New England Patriots at Ford Field. The connections between the two clubs are endless, especially in the front office for the Honolulu Blue. The two teams had joint practices before the season in 2017 in Foxborough, so one would suspect the same thing this year in Allen Park.

The second week will send the Lions down to Houston to battle the Texans. The Lions will then host the Buffalo Bills on August 23rd, which is the only scheduled date so far in the preseason with it being a nationally-televised game on CBS.

The finale takes them to Cleveland to take on the Browns in the Great Lakes Classic for the Battle of the Barge trophy. With it being the final week of the preseason, it is normally the most playing time for the starters during the regular season.

The regular season schedule will be announced in late April, normally before the NFL Draft, taking place in Nashville, Tennessee, this year.
