Sentence in Fatal Fire
A Battle Creek man was in court yesterday to be sentenced for setting a fire that killed a little girl. Jesse Tatum pleaded guilty last month to second degree murder for the November 2012 fire on Young Street that killed 8-year-old Karrina Johnson. Tatum had earlier argued with Johnson’s mother and told the court he didn’t think anyone was in the house when he set the fire. Tatum received a sentence yesterday of 39 to 80 years in prison.
