Lions

The Lions are well on their way to a #1 draft pick, as they lost to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night,  24-12 to fall to 0-3.  Demaryius Thomas made nine grabs for 92 yards and a score forDenver.   Matthew Stafford was 31-of-45 for 282 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Peyton Manning threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Broncos.  The Lions play next Monday atSeattle.

Monday Night Football

NFL Week Three wraps up with the Kansas City Chiefs against the Green Bay Packers on "Monday Night Football" at Lambeau Field.  The Packers are off to a 2-and-0 start.

Tigers’

The Tigers lost to the Twins 7-1 in the final home game of 2015.   It was a tough day for Tiger fans, and a tough year, as they didn’t make the post season, after winning 4 straight division championships and had a losing season for the first time in 7 years.   Manager Brad Ausmus will be back in the Tigers' dugout next season. It might have been the final home game for Alex Avila in a Tiger uniform.  39 year old lefty Randy Wolf didn't survive the second inning and fell to 0-and-5.   The Tigers open a three-game series inTexastonight, and finish the season this weekend inChicagoagainst the White Sox.

College Football

The Michigan State Spartans remained number-two in this week's "AP Top-25 Poll" released on Sunday. The 4-and-0 Spartans stayed in the same position after Saturday's 30-10 win over Central Michigan. The Spartans host Purdue this Saturday in their homecoming game.

Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines have cracked the top-25.Michigan is ranked number-22 in the latest "AP Top-25 Poll" released Sunday.   Jake Rudock threw a touchdown pass and also ran for two scores asMichigan blew out BYU 31-0 Saturday at the Big House as the Wolverines improved to 3-and-1. They play atMaryland this Saturday.

Red Wings

The Red Wings are inBostontonight for a preseason game against the Bruins. These teams just met Saturday inDetroit, withBostonwinning 4-3 in overtime. The Red Wings are 2-0-and-2 in exhibition play. The regular season starts October 9th at home against the Maple Leafs.

Pistons

The Pistons are gearing up for the coming season. The team will hold Media Day today at The Palace. The Pistons kick off an eight-game preseason slate October 6th at home against the Pacers. The regular season opener is October 27th against the Hawks inAtlanta.

Nascar

Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag at theSylvania300 on Sunday.  Kenseth led 27 of the 300 laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards rounded out the top-five. Kenseth is six points ahead of Hamlin in the Chase standings.  A three-time NASCAR champion is reportedly set to step away from the track. Multiple reports say Tony Stewart plans on retiring after the 2016 season. The 45-year-old Stewart has 48 career victories.

PGA

Jordan Spieth is now the youngest champion in FedEx Cup history after taking the TOUR Championship by four strokes inAtlanta. The 22-year-old Spieth shot a one-under-69 on Sunday and finished at nine-under to clinch the FedEx Cup and the $10-million dollar bonus. Spieth pulled away from second place Henrik Stenson pretty early with birdies on the eighth, ninth, and 11th holes. Spieth will return to his number one-ranking, and his $11.5-million dollar total prize completes the richest golf season ever as he racked up $22-million in winnings this year.   Stenson finished tied for second with Justin Rose and Danny Lee at five-under.

Rams Field Catches Fire
The field turf inside the Edward Jones Dome caught fire Sunday from fireworks being set off during player introductions. The incident caused a 30-minute delay in the Rams-Steelers game.
