Suspect Charged In Hit And Run Death

An Illinois man has been accused of killing another man in Portage last week.

The victim was thrown from the hood of a car after he was hit in the parking lot of an apartment complex on East Milham Avenue last Friday just after midnight.

Investigators say the accused, 20-year-old Devonte Parker, was sitting in his car playing loud music when he was confronted by one of the residents.

Police say the victim, 54-year-old Kenneth Miller, was hit with the car and was on the hood for about a quarter of a mile before he was thrown off.

Miller died from his injuries several days later.  Parker is so far facing charges of reckless driving causing death and failure to stop.
