Former Portage Northern pitcher Tommy Henry got his first Major League Start this week, AND notched his first win in his home field debut in Arizona.

The game attracted not only the best of the best, but also a packed house of some 49,000 fans. The National Leaguers wore special uniforms that afternoon. The American League players word their home whites.

Another former Battle Creek Bombers (now BattleJacks) has made it to the major leagues. The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer league, and both Battle Creek and Kalamazoo have teams in the league. But one category where Battle Creek leads Kalamazoo is former players to have made it to "The Show", the Major League.

The Kalamazoo Growlers may get more "pub" this week. The team announced a "Lifetime Ban" on Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred, with a subheading in the proclamation saying "Manfred is ruining baseball".

The Detroit Tigers were able to use a strong start and capitalize on a last-minute change from the San Francisco Giants to win their three-game finale Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers lost to the Kansas City Royals Wednesday evening, 8-2. Kansas City was first to score off lefty Daniel Norris in the top of the 3rd inning. The Royals added more runs in the 4th, building a 5-0 lead. Alex Avila hit a homer in the 4th making it a 5-1 game...
