It was a low hitting affair for the Detroit Tigers, for most of Tuesday night’s game, as they fell to Kansas City 3-1.  Scoring was non-existent, after the 4th inning. Things were looking ominous for Michael Fulmer, as he gave up a home run to the Royals, on the very first pitch. Fortunately, he settled things down and had a strong, eight inning outing. The Royals added two more runs in the 4th inning, on four singles. Tiger offense would finally get on the board in the bottom of the inning, following a triple from Mahtook, a walk to Martinez and a single from McCann, scoring Mahtook. The Tigers trailed 3-1, after four.

The first real threat of the night, for Tiger hitters would come in the 7th inning. Following a double from Victor Martinez, and a single from Andrew Romine, the Tigers had two men on, with only one out. Unfortunately, Peter Moylan would come on to relieve Royals starter Danny Duffy and record the final two outs, on ground balls.

Things were looking good for the Tigers again in the 8th, after they put the first two batters on. However, Mikie Mahtook grounded into a fielder’s choice and Martinez lined into a double play, when Mahtook misread the play. Tiger batters went down, 1-2-3 in the 9th.

In eight innings, Fulmer gave up three runs on eight hits, with no walks and six strikeouts. Both teams had eight hits in the game.

The Tigers wrap up their three game series with the Royals, Wednesday night, as they hope to salvage one. Anibal Sanchez(3-1  5.95 ERA) will get the start. The Royals will send out, evenly matched Ian Kennedy(3-1  4.61 ERA). Our coverage begins at 6:45, on 95.3 WBCK.
