Tigers Get the Broom From the Royals
The Detroit Tigers have found ways to lose to the Kansas City Royals in the last two games. Wednesday night's game was one of the worst ways to lose.
The Tigers had no chance, allowing four runs in the first three innings and nine runs alone in the seventh to fall 16-2 in the series finale. The Motown Cats have now dropped three straight and five-in-a-row to the Royals.
Nicholas Castellanos and Andrew Romine each collected two hits on the night, with Jose Iglesias earning the lone RBI. Romine came in to pinch hit for Miguel Cabrera, playing first base and later toss 2/3 of an inning of relief.
The Tigers used six pitchers on the night, allowing 22 Royals hits. Eric Hosmer went 5-for-6 and drove in six runs, including a grand slam for his 16th homer of the season.
Detroit now has Thursday off and looks to regroup for their three-game series with the Houston Astros. Catch the action Friday night at 6:45pm on 95.3 WBCK!
