Tigers Lose 6-2; Fall to 12 Games Out of First
The Tigers lost 6-2 to the Rangers in the first of three games in Texas. Michael Fulmer came off the disabled list to start for the Tigers, but wasn’t sharp. Fulmer walked three of first five batters he faced as the Rangers pushed across two runs. The Tigers had taken an early lead with two in the first, as Justin Upton hit his 23rd home run of the season. But the Rangers chipped away at Fulmer and the Tigers, adding runs four of the next five innings, for the 6-2 win. Joey Gallo's 33rd homer of the season gave starter Martin Perez more than enough runs for the win. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 12 games below .500 for the first time this season. Mikie Mahtook had three hits to raise his average to .306. James McCann added a pair of hits. Justin Verlander starts for the Tigers tonight, as he goes for his 9th win.
