Kalamazoo authorities are looking into a pair of car thefts that happened overnight Wednesday.

The first theft happened around 7:30pm on W. Paterson, and it was noticed by the vehicle’s owner; police were quick to respond, and they found the vehicle a short distance away without anyone in it. The suspects in this case were three minors.

The second theft happened a few hours later on Heatherdowns, and was reported by a passerby; again, police happened to be nearby, and located the vehicle, this time with a 17-year-old suspect being caught, however two other suspects got away.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that in both cases, these vehicle had been left running and unlocked, making them an easy target.
