A crowd of 1,000-fans looked on as the Harper Creek Beavers came out on the losing end in the battle of Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference East Division rivals Friday night as the Battle Creek Central Bearcats bashed the Beavers 59-38.

Curtis Trigg led the Battle Cats’ attack with 16-points, six rebounds, a pair of steals and one assist. Joe Bowser added 10-points, three assists and one steal.  The lone Beaver scoring in double-digits was James Cadena with 11-points and three assists.

The loss was the first of the year for Harper Creek, whose record now stands at 4-and-1 while Battle Creek Central’s record improves to 7-and-1.

Earlier, in the night’s first game, girls' varsity action saw the Beavers defeat the Bearcats 47-23.
