After losing to the visiting KVAA rival Vermontville Maple Valley on Wednesday night, a much different and revitalized Pennfield Panthers took to the hard boards Friday night to defeat the Galesburg-Augusta Rams 63-57.  The game was a see-saw match throughout the evening with Pennfield taking a 34-33 lead into the locker rooms at the half. The Rams led 50-49 as the final three minutes were running off the clock. However, the Panthers pulled ahead after a pair of three-point shots by Aaron Brown made it 55-50 Pennfield and ending with the win at the final buzzer.

Pennfield’s scoring attack was led by Jake Grimes with 23-points, Aaron Brown with 16 and Branden Rugg with 15. Leading the way for Galesburg-Augusta were Jacob LamBert with 16-points, followed by Jordan Born with 14 and Ryan Ranes with 10.  While the statistics show the two teams to be close, it was turnovers that proved to be the big difference. The Rams turned the ball over 19 times compared to the Panthers 10.

Pennfield’s record improves to 7-and-4 on the season while Galesburg-Augusta drops to 4-and-6.
