Scam Calls In Battle Creek

Police are warning residents to be on their guard against a telephone scam being reported in the area.

Battle Creek Police say people are getting calls from scammers claiming to be from the IRS who threaten to arrest a family member over an unpaid tax bill unless an immediate payment is made.

Authorities say real IRS agents will never contact a family member over an unpaid debt and don’t take payments over the phone.
